How to Stop Facebook Video on a Foldable iPhone

Facebook has become a video app with a social network attached: Reels, Watch and clips that start playing on their own. On a 7.6-inch foldable screen, that can be a lot. Here is how to reduce it on an iPhone Duo using only what you already have.
In short: check your autoplay setting inside Facebook, set an iOS Screen Time App Limit, consider facebook.com in Safari rather than the app, and keep your feed to accounts you chose. These reduce video; they do not delete Reels. Stillfeed does not support Facebook yet.
The foldable factor
Per Apple, the iPhone Duo has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch cover display, runs on the A20 Pro and began selling on October 23 (product page). Apple highlights using two apps side by side in landscape. We have no information on how Facebook's app uses the space, so we are not going to describe it. What is reasonable to say is that video on a large, bright display holds attention more easily, which is why limits matter more, not less. For the research angle, see our piece on social media addiction.
Turn down autoplay
Facebook has had settings for how videos start playing, such as sound and autoplay on mobile data or Wi-Fi. Menu names and locations change, so open Facebook, go to Settings, and search for “video” or “autoplay”. If you find a way to stop clips playing without a tap, use it. That makes the feed quieter, though it will not remove Reels as a section.
Set a daily limit
- Settings, Screen Time, App Limits.
- Add Limit and pick Facebook, or the whole Social category.
- Choose a time you would be content with, and turn on Block at End of Limit if your iOS version offers it.
It is the most reliable thing on this list because it does not depend on Facebook cooperating. It is also easy to tap past, so see our phone addiction guide for ways to make a limit stick.
Let the cover display be the speed bump
Because the phone closes into a 5.4-inch device, you can set a rule: Facebook is for the cover display, quick checks only. Unfolding becomes a decision. This is our idea, not an Apple feature, and it depends on you keeping to it.
Try Facebook on the web
Using facebook.com in Safari means one more step to open it and no app-icon badge pulling you in. It will still show what Facebook wants to show, and the site may push its app. Treat it as friction, not a block.
What none of this does
None of these options removes Reels or Watch. As far as we know, as of October 2026, Facebook does not offer a switch for that. Stillfeed is built for that job on other platforms: it is an iPhone app with a built-in browser that sends TikTok's For You to Following and removes Reels, Shorts and Explore on Instagram and YouTube. It does not support Facebook in the current App Store version, and we are not giving a date.
You can see what Stillfeed does today on the TikTok page. It runs on iPhone Duo like any iPhone app.
Check in after a week
After a week, open Screen Time and look at Facebook's daily average and pickups. Compare it with your first days on the phone. If it has not dropped, shorten the limit, or move the app off your Home Screen and open it only through search. The goal is not zero Facebook; it is that you open it for a reason and leave when the reason is done. A foldable gives you a bigger canvas for everything, so it is worth deciding in advance how much of it you want video to have. If you want a wider framework, our dopamine detox guide walks through a gentle reset.
It also helps to separate the jobs Facebook does for you. Groups, Marketplace, events and messages are tasks with a start and an end. The feed and video sections are different, because they have no end by design. If you can reach the tasks through the web version or a direct link, you may not need the feed at all, and the video question mostly takes care of itself. Keep a short list of what you actually use Facebook for and notice when you drift outside it.
Common questions
How do I stop Facebook videos from autoplaying?
Look in Facebook's settings for a video or autoplay option. The exact menu changes over time, so search the settings.
Can I delete Facebook Reels from my feed?
Not entirely, as far as we know. You can limit time and shape what you follow.
Does Stillfeed block Facebook video?
No. Facebook is not supported in the current App Store version of Stillfeed.
Will Screen Time work on a foldable iPhone?
Yes. It is part of iOS and works as it does on other iPhones.
