How to use X with only the Following feed (no For You) on iPhone
Want X to show only the people you follow? Here's how to keep your timeline on Following, hide Trends and still use your messages.

Quick answer: X has a Following tab, but For You stays one swipe away. Stillfeed, an in-app browser for iPhone, opens the real x.com signed into your account with your home timeline on Following, the Trends page blocked, and trending topics and "who to follow" suggestions hidden on Explore. Your messages stay available.
Why For You is hard to avoid
The For You timeline is X's recommended feed: posts from accounts you don't follow, picked to keep you reading. The Following tab is the opposite, a list of posts from people you chose. Most people who search for "X Following only" want that second one and nothing else.
X shows both tabs at the top of Home. Switching to Following works for that moment, but For You is still right there, along with Trends and Explore. Each one is a doorway back into the recommended stream. We're not aware of a setting in X, as of October 2026, that removes For You completely.
What Stillfeed hides on X
Stillfeed loads x.com, the real X website, signed into your own account. As of October 2026, it:
- Switches your home timeline to Following instead of For You.
- Blocks the Trends page.
- Hides trending topics, event banners and "who to follow" suggestions on Explore.
What still works
- Messages and chat. You can read and reply to DMs as usual.
- Posting, replying and liking on the X website.
- Profiles and search, so you can still look someone up on purpose.
- Notifications, so you see replies and mentions.
Stillfeed never changes your account, who you follow or your posts. It hides certain parts of the page on your phone, and that's all.
Free or Pro?
Open Stillfeed's settings to see which X options are included free and which come with Pro. What's free for everyone from the first launch is the Instagram and YouTube part: Reels, Shorts and Explore removed, and Instagram opening to Following. Stillfeed Pro is optional and adds things like a daily time limit.
How to set it up
- Download Stillfeed from the App Store and open it.
- Pick X.
- Log in as you normally would. Your username and password go straight to X, never to Stillfeed. No Stillfeed account needed.
- Browse. Your timeline opens on Following.
Make it stick
Stillfeed only changes the X you open inside Stillfeed. The official X app still opens on its usual screens. To make the switch last:
- Remove the X app from your home screen (long-press, then Remove App) or delete it.
- Put Stillfeed where X used to be, so the same thumb movement lands somewhere calmer.
- If you keep the official app, give it a short Screen Time limit. See Stillfeed vs Screen Time for how the two fit together.
Trade-offs to know about
- Stillfeed uses the X website, which can differ a little from the app. Some app-only features may not be available.
- It's iPhone only. There's no Android version.
- Following isn't a magic fix. If you follow hundreds of busy accounts, your Following timeline can still be long. Trimming who you follow helps.
More on other platforms
Stillfeed works the same way on Reddit, TikTok, Snapchat and LinkedIn, and removes Reels and Shorts from Instagram and YouTube. See all of them on the platforms page. Common questions
Can you turn off the For You tab on X?
Not in the X app itself, as far as we know as of October 2026. You can tap Following, but For You stays one swipe away. Stillfeed opens x.com with your home timeline set to Following instead of For You.
Can I still read and send DMs on X through Stillfeed?
Yes. Messages and chat stay available. Stillfeed hides the For You timeline, the Trends page and parts of Explore, not your conversations.
Does Stillfeed hide trending topics on X?
Yes. As of October 2026, the Trends page is blocked, and on Explore Stillfeed hides trending topics, event banners and "who to follow" account suggestions. Search still works.
Is the X part of Stillfeed free?
Open Stillfeed's settings to see which options are included free and which come with Pro. Removing Reels, Shorts and Explore from Instagram and YouTube is free from first launch.
